Gennie Rose ...

I was born in the small community of Ochre Pit Cove in Conception Bay, Newfoundland. I had the wonderful opportunity to grow up close to the sea, the fishery and a picturesque surroundings.

I was raised in such a way that I learned to appreciate all the little things that helped paint the bigger picture...like the birth of a new calf, the little fishing dories coming in with their catch, and the frost slowly gathering on the window pane. In my paintings I try to achieve the presence of those little things, which is necessary for a painting to come to life.

I started painting seven years ago. Being the mother of two small children, this was my way to relax and bring the world as I saw it to life in the form of art. Over these seven years I painted on several types of mediums...glass, canvas, pine, rocks, cast iron, saw blades, even furniture and walls...all interesting in their own special way. I have done customized paintings, for example, a persons cabin or old homestead, cats curled up on beach rocks, and many many different scenes.

I strive to bring character to all my paintings and give them a more personal touch. A flat rock can make a interesting, yet quite a beautiful painting.
